A new painting

This one is called "The Visitors". It is 16 x 20. I am having so much fun with these paintings.

It was so hard to photograph this with the very dark and the very light--with just my little olympus automatic camera, a cloudy day, and my shaky hand!!

Started because of a class on the One Little House ning group called "paint what you see"; inspired by classes by Hali Kari and Tracy Verdugo on 21 Secrets; and by looking at the artwork of Flora Bowley and Jesse Reno---all of whom use a similar process of layer upon layer and then "seeing" in your painting and defining. Following are the different stages of "The Conversation"

Busy! busy!

My muse is in overdrive this spring.
Here are a couple of pieces inspired by Tracy Verdugo's class at 21 secrets.

Another really fun class from 21 Secrets.

The technique is similar to the paintings I have done that are called "paint what you see". You paint a background-just add layers and layers. When you've added all the layers, you turn it around and around and see what you can see.

This was the before piece.

I forgot to take a photo of the before that these 2 came from. I added extra collage pieces to each. Below is another before piece.

This last piece, I call "The three wise women". I bet you didn't know that there were 3 wise women-when they came to see Mary and the baby, they brought a beautiful patchwork quilt.

I couldn't get a photo of him sitting this morning, but when he did, he always looked like a little round ball--turns out that the chubby look was all fur! Finally warm enough today-74- to go to the groomer and hang out on the porch this afternoon--too bad that tomorrow it will only be 46!!
